Connect remotely to mycloud using port forwarding

With the new wd2go no longer allowing me to add mycloud device as a network location when i connect remotely which allowed me browse and sync files using synctoy is there a way to connect to mycloud remotely using portforwarding?

The main issue I have with using wd sync is that I already have copies of files on work computers and mycloud which are organisedd in private folders. As wdsync does not sync private folders (I have no idea why?) I dont want to copy files or move that are on my work computer into the wd syn folder as I already have copies on my work computer and wdmycloud so I was hoping I could find a way of connecting remotely to mycloud as set it as a network location on my computer and use synctoy to copy, transfer and change any files that are already set up on my cloud and my work computer?

Hi, you could remotely access the drive using FTP and SSH, but remember that FTP is not secure and that SSH has a default user name and password which as far as I know cant be changed.

I had a My Cloud working over FTP for regular testing and I forwarded port 21 to the My Cloud fixed IP address and user FileZilla and My Public IP address to connect to it. Keep in mind that from time to time your ISP might change the public IP address, You could use something like NO-IP or DynDNS, or contact your ISP o see if they can provide you with a static public IP.
