Connecting to WDMyCloud

Hello,

I have a WDMyCloud drive. I have two shares on that drive that I want to map to my computer running Windows 10. One is a public drive and the other requires a password to access. For some reason, Windows will let me map one or the other but not both. If the Public share is mapped and I try to map the password protected share, I get a windows error that the network folder is currently mapped using a different user name and password. If I remove the password protection on the pw-protected share, I can map without issue. I’ve tried using both WD Smartware and WD Discovery to map the pw-protected drive with no success.

On a previous computer, I was able to have both mapped and access without issue. I’m running Bitdefender internet security. I’m mapping using IP addresses because using the WDMYCloud server name isn’t working unless I run ipconfig /flushdns, /release and then /renew, which is not a long-term solution.

Any thoughts from the community?

Windows won’t allow mixed credentials when accessing remote drives, so you have to connect to the public and private shares with the same credentials; those of the private share. Disconnect all mapped drives, and then reconnect, specifying ‘connect as other user’ (or something like that). Give your MyCloud username and password for both public and private shares.
