Copying Files & Folders to and from attached USB Drive?

I have a media library that I want to transfer from a USB drive to my EX 2 Ultra, I’d done much of it via OS 3 but now I’ve upgraded to OS 5, I can’t see any copy functionality, only move or delete.

Can anyone help/advise? I’m hoping I’m missing something obvious. I’ve had no trouble attaching the drive and can see its contents.

I have about 3TB to copy and using file manager (finder on my Mac) isn’t practical. I’d also like to consolidate data off other USB drives onto the NAS too so this basic functionality is crucial.

There is a backup app for the OS/5.

With this, you can run a backup job from the USB to the disk. It will put all the folders in a default heirarchy (based on the backup job name); but it only takes a few moments to correct that issue once the files are copied.

Except it always crashes whenever I try to run it. WD really shot themselves in the *ss on this one. First the Milestone Arcus debacle and now this. Time to chuck the WD nas products in the trash and move on to a better brand with better support. At this point Xpenology has better support than WD nas products. Pathetic.

I have not run a backup job on the current version of the software. . .but I successfully ran a few on the previous version.

The middle section is the important part. I successfully rolled back to OS3. Firmware 2.40.155 It booted into recovery mode and took the flash. I then rebooted and then hard reset it. It worked fine. One thing of note; Don’t worry about the “no sudo” error message, just continue on. I have since flashed it to a Synology. If you switch to the Synology OS you will have to back up your data beforehand as it wants to format the drives.
