Moving files to/from USB attached storage in the OS 5 App or web page

I’ve just recently purchased another HDD to add into my EX2 Ultra (I had only purchased one HDD when I originally got my NAS), and am planning on configuring it from its JBOD to a RAID format. Since that will erase all of my data, I’m planning on moving my data that’s currently on the drive already housed in my EX2 Ultra into an attached HDD that’s USB connected, whilt the configuration is on-going, before I move all of the files back.

However, when I tried to move the contents of the HDD that’s housed using the web app or the mobile app, it’s not letting me move files from one share drive to another. Instead, it’s only letting me move files within the drive itself (i.e. to a different folder within the drive). It’s not giving me the option to move it one from share drive to another (i.e. from the “Public” drive to my USB-attached storage. The same thing applies vise-versa.

I know I could go through the Windows Explorer route and move things that way, but the read/write speed of that is pitiful (I’m only getting around 30 MB/s at the moment) compared to what I had as the read/write speed of moving things between USB/NAS in the past (~100 MB/s).

Does anyone have any suggestions of how to go about this / what to do?

I downloaded the USB backup app that is no longer part of the system in OS5

connected a WD 4 TB mybook - rebooted NAS

Then did a NAS (share) to USB xfer ( I generally use Sync and not copy ) but your case may just need copy

remember there are two different apps - one for copy to a USB drive and the other for internal copy

  1. May need to format the USB HD
  2. May need to have the NAS off then plug in the USB HD

I too used to move around files all the time in shares using the app, sigh, any other fix apart from the below?

Nope - - it’s a ridiculous and stupid feature limitation like the 5gb transfer limit.
