ok here is my question…i have 1TB wdtv live hub and its almost full so can i connect to it another external hdd by using usb in order to have an extra space?(for example can i connect another 2TB wd hdd with usb cable and read files in it through the hub?)anyone has any idea about it? thanks…
Yes. You can add storage via USB.
but when i connect another hdd which is 2 TB capacity nothing is happening i cant see the files in it through the hub any idea?thanks…
You may need to change the VIEW you’re currently using.
Go into VIDEOS (or whichever media you want)
… press the RED BUTTON
… Select LOCAL STORAGE
… Select ALL Local Storage…
You should now see the combined contents of both the internal and all USB drives together.
still nothing man…i connect the hdd to the hub(tried both front n back) and then i select the videos on the home screen and then i press the red button and select the local storage and then all local storage but still i cant see the files in hdd…do you think maybe the reason is that i turned off auto sync from usb storage from the setup? but when i turn it on it syncs all files in the hdd so i hope you dont tell me this is the only way:))thnx…
No, you don’t need to use AUTO-SYNC to make USB drives work. You would use AUTO-SYNC to COPY the USB over to the internal.
So, when you do this:
RED BUTTON
LOCAL STORAGE

Does the USB drive show up as an option? Meaning, is it like the Hub can’t even detect the drive is there?
Or does it list it, but say it’s empty?
yes when i do the red button thing theres nothing…hub cant even detect the drive…there’s only the internal that appears(WDTVLiveHub folder)…maybe the reason is the hdd format? their format is ex fat… or maybe hub doesnt support 2TB connection by usb? any other ideas?thnx a lot by the way for ur help…
No, ExFAT is NOT supported. That’s Microsoft proprietary.
Could you try changing it to NTFS?
**bleep** thats just great i hate when something like this happens i mean why they just dont let us to use the frickin technology?im both a mac and microsoft user and im tired about this supporting thing:/ anyway im glad that i have 2 hdds so yes man i can change one of them to NTFS:) so thats just it? i mean when i change it to NTFS ill see it through the hub?
Yep…
