Dashboard opens very slow, if at all

Good morning and apologies if answered somewhere already… I did not find an answer so far.

I have a WDmycloudmirror 8TB connected to a Zyxelspeedlink 5501 router via gigabit ethernet. The Computer on the other side runs Windows 8.

If I try to open the dashboard, very often the browser just freezes. Or it shows the message: “script with long runtime, please refresh”.
(At the same time I can connect to the WDMycloudmirror to copy and see files from the PC without problems.

Don’t know if there is a connection to the problem: I try to sync two computers via WDsync… about 1 min files extremely slow (one file every 5 seconds even if the files are only 50 KB)

The hard drive LEDs on the WDMycloud blink blue all the time for days.
(A Reset did not help, a Reset of the router did not help).

But here my main issue is I can hardly reach the dashboard.

EDIT: I do have two iPhones connected for photo upload via app.

Any ideas? I Appreciate any suggestions

Do you have a lot of services or plug-ins running on the MCM? For example the anti-virus plug-in, or services like web access (access for devices via the internet using the WD apps)?

All of those will increase the load on the MCM processor, which isn’t the strongest of devices. Also some of the services like the web access and DLNA will database and catalogue some of the files (especially multimedia files) when you copy them onto the drive, which also takes time and processor power.

If the processor gets tied up doing other stuff, it doesn’t have the capacity to support the web server properly and so display the dashboard. The blinking lights indicate disk access, which would fit with the MCM being “busy” and hence unresponsive.

My advice would always be to review which plugins and services you have in operation, and to pare that down as much as possible to free as much processor resource as you can.

Thank you  . I have already closed the sync app because I was afraid it could be an overload issue during indexing. But that was already last friday :frowning:

If you can get to the dashboard if suggest to reboot the MCM and confirm there that all unneeded services on the device itself are switched off. If it’s not reachable you can reboot also via the WD Quickview app.

It sounds to me like something is still active and is swamping your MCM processor.

A word of warning: get all the data you can off the drive before you run into more trouble. Buy a drive from a different company if you really want to safeguard your data. WD is not capable of supplying a reliable system for backups.
