This message appeared during a large file operation. Accessing the unit via the MyCloud app revealed the content was “being migrated”, which research showed meant the firmware was being updated and it “might take a while”. A while was a few hours.
Support got back the next day and advised that this was an OTA upgrade, which could not be delayed, paused, rolled back and had to run it’s course, which could take 5 DAYS or more. There was no warning about this occurring.
Is there any way to prevent this from happening or at least gain an understanding of how long the unit will be down for? A few hours is unacceptable, five DAYS is inconceivable!
Data Migration on my device completed in 3 days instead of 5 days and the data migration completely depends upon the type of data and space occupied by that data.
Mine was occupied near to 2TB and completely contains the photos and videos only.
Moreover, OTA firmware update is good but there should a notification about it via email should be given before attempting the firmware update and an option to choose the time to update. This way, we cannot stop the firmware update but we can customize the time to update.
you gotta be fn kidding me. They tell you to not reboot, turn off or interrupt in any way. Well fu…dge. What do you think I’ve been doing all day during troubleshooting.
