I found that even the 3TB were more buggy than the 2 TB.
Thx for the help.

I use a 3tb Hitachi drive without issues.
Good question. I was also thinking of upgrading my network. Currently I see no problem with 3TB or smaller drives, in a singular enclosure or a dual bay enclosure. And I was looking at the same drive recently.
That’s an excellent question.
But I want to replace the internal drive. That’s the main reason I registered here, to get that question answered.
I have been waiting longer than a year WD to release a WD Live HUB with a larger drive and it hasn’t happened.
Or come out with a new product that is capable of storing more data. The external drive options are just to slow.
That is the only major problem I have with the WD Live HUB. It isn’t good at moving data in or out. Horribly slow.
I have had other brands of media players, WD’s competition, and I successfully replaced their hard drives with larger drives and they automatically formatted and created the necessary files and directory structure during first initialization. I have been tempted to do it on my WD Hub several times. Since I don’t see an answer on this and my player is way out of warranty I think I’ll bite the bullet and give it a try. I would really like to put a 3T in it, but I know there are issues on the 3T drives in general for all older equipment. I think I’ll try a 2T first since I have a spare drive. If it works as the other brands did in the past I’ll know as soon as it comes up. If it does come up.
Back to the product itself. I am surprised WD has not recognized that 1 Terabyte is not big when talking about a BluRay movie that is 48gigs in size.

The WD TV Live Hub uses a 2.5 in hard drive and I’ve read here that is has to be a WD hard drive. Looking at WD’s website, 2 TB is the highest for 2.5 in. so as of now, you can replace the hub’s drive with a maximum of 2 TB.
