I have a cloud ex2 ultra and so far it’s worked great for me until yesterday when I noticed I couldn’t find the nas drive under network in my computer. I restarted the computer, reset my router and modem, then rebooted my nas drive, the power light comes on solid blue but neither of the two drive lights come on and I can’t find the drive via the network.
I do recall the 2 hard drive lights used to be on solid like the power light but I am not sure what exactly has happened here I ran the system test within the cloud dashboard came back as a pass, I just don’t know why I can’t see the drive anymore in network and both hard drive lights appear to be off.
Strangely I can still access it via plex in my browser and via the cloud on iphone to see play music or video, so I don’t think the drives went bad or anything I just have no lights and can’t see the nas drive itself via network anymore.
The fact that Plex and the iphone can see it indicates it’s likely not a problem with the drive but with the computer. A lot of things can cause a PC to be unable to find network resources.
What have you changed recently on the PC? Do you have anti-virus software installed? Do you use Windows firewall? Are you able to access your routers homepage?
I figured it out I think but still have one problem, I think I hit hibrernate in the dashboard and that’s when the lights went off, I read I had to unplug the cat 6 cable and unpower the unit, once I did that the 2 drive lights came back on as hibernate is now the shutdown via the most recent firmware update.
The problem i have now is I still can’t see the nas via my network under my computer (previously I was able to see it and access it fine).
I have reset my modem, router, pc, even changed which port my cat6 cable goes into on the router, rebooted the nas as well, I can access it thru the cloud software via iphone and the plex nas server is running i can view videos from directories i setup on it, just can’t see the nas via computer/network area where i normally used to see it.
I am running avast antifvirus no real changes or anything software wise or firewall wise, I can access my routers homepage, I can see the nas drive with it’s ip address and shows its connected via ethernet cord, I can access the dashboard via that ip address too, just can’t see it under computer/network like i can see all the other computers in the house.
Try (very temporarily - undo this as soon as you test) to disable the anti-virus and firewall. Once this is done, try mapping a drive letter to the drive (instructions below) and see if it can establish a connection:
Yep disconnected firewall and turned off antivirus yet when i go to map the drive it’s just not showing up under browse/network to be able to assign it ;(
From what I read here in forums and thru google is sometimes the drive after rebooting takes a bit to just recheck it’s files and whatnot, maybe I will just check back tomorrow do a pc/router/modem reset leave the nas alone and see what results that gives me, it could just show up again like before.
