I have a quick question regarding file permissions.
Scenario
DL4100 up and running well. Dropbox app installed and syncing beautifully.
15 users all configured and able to access the drive and its shares.
We have a share named DriveP which is mapped to our Windows 7 PCs as P: and everyone can access it.
I have been asked if one of the subfolders (the one named Quality System) can have some restrictions added to allow two users to have read write access and everyone else read only.
Can this be done?
or do I create a separate share named DriveQ, assign the permission via groups there and map it as Q: on everyones pc?
My thoughts are you need to move quality to a new folder/share on the Dl4100, not a subfolder.
That said, I and others seem to have a problem connecting to a DL that has public and private shares both. May have to make all shares private and give each user proper permissions. YMMV
Hi Gramps - thanks for the reply. I too have come across a few oddities with the DL4100, like the automatic USB backup not working unless you plud the usb disk in the back sockets :O). The access hasn’t been an issue for us yet but I could see when trawling google that many do have issues. Will probably approach the QA person and put forward the idea of a drive Q :O)
