HEIC support on My Cloud

WD people, when do you think your My Cloud app will support the HEIC format? You already support it for your My Cloud Home app so what is the problem here? And NO I won’t change the file format of my iPhone to get a lower standard pictures.

Well stated. Yeah WD, When?

My WD ssd My Passport is useless without .HEIC support. Lost of money :(

The issue discussed above is the fact the WD software/apps for the single bay My Cloud does not support HEIC. It appears the WD SSD My Passport is an external USB hard drive and does not use the same software (typically for remote access) for access that the My Cloud line does.

If your operating system does not support HEIC then consult the operating system manufacturer’s website to see if they have further information on HEIC support.

Are you saying WD supports HEIC format on MyCloud EX2

Can your EX2, or my first gen single bay My Cloud, or the person I was replying to’s WD SSD My Passport, be used to store .HEIC files? Yes. The problem is the WD software/app (or possibly web portal) doesn’t apparently support the .HEIC format.

WD has to fix their software to support the HEIC format/extension; but that doesn’t prevent one from using a My Cloud or USB external hard drive to store files not recognized by the WD software/apps.

Yes I agree. Google photos works just fine. Almost 1 yr and nothing from WD
