MyCloud4TB does not appear to have enough capabilities to allow Remote Backup and MYCloudEX4100 (info) bubble only indicates this is possible from an EX to an EX server.
Is it possible to set up a remote backup from MyCloud4TB to MyCloudEX4100?
Or am I limited to USB connection to transfer the data?
I think I answered my own question.
Can’t seem to do it via Remote Backup, but am able to connect via FTP. Appears to be working now and much faster than file transfer OTW through my network.
Hello,
Thanks for coming back and sharing your solution.
Hope this helps other users as well.
No problem.
Going the OTW route is “feasible”, but EXTREMELY long, which is what I was trying and found a interim solution.
My second answer/solution;
The better way is to attach a USB device to, in my case, the MyCloud-4TB drive and copy the files down. Then using the same USB device connect to the EX4100 and upload. SSSOOOO much faster and no network issues.
The network seems to be my limitation, although it is a strong configuration, it just doesn’t handle the amount of data transfer happening here all that well. Also, if the devices are not close, that adds to the trouble as sometimes files will not transfer and fail in the App Activity list.
Connecting the MyCloud-4TB to the EX4100 via USB does not work. The EX4100 does not recognize the MyCloud-4TB and I did not want to test connecting the other way.
