How does wd my cloud detect Me as the main user

I just setup a new wd my cloud 2 tb. I have added a password and myself as the only user. My noob question is that on my pc, I see all the shares I created along with time machine and smartware in the network section of “my compuer”, Can add and delete files. On another pc in the home, I can only see public. How do I make the other pc see only certain shares and can I add a password to a specific share? Also, how did wd know to give my main pc access to all shares, I didnt map any drives or anything.

First, if you haven’t already done so read through the WD My Cloud User Manual. It will explain the operation of the WD My Cloud and how to setup user accounts and password protect shares (folders) on the My Cloud.

When a Share is set to Private via the WD My Cloud Dashboard users are generally prompted to input a user name and password to access it. Often times once the user name and password has been input Windows will remember that login information until one reboots the computer. The other instance where Windows may automatically access a password protected Share on the My Cloud is when the Windows user account has the exact same login information as the user account created on the My Cloud.

Any Share on the WD My Cloud that has “Public Access” configured to “On” in the Dashboard will be visible and accessible to all who access the WD My Cloud. It should also be noted that any media put in any folder, public or private will be accessible to DLNA clients if the “Media Serving” option is set to “On” for that share/folder in the Dashboard.

Again, read the User Manual to learn more about your WD My Cloud it will most likely answer other questions you may have.

Thank you very much.I will read the manual.
