Hy! I gave up. I went with my HDD-s to recovery. I have all my data without the structure… What is for sure is that I will never buy something from WD. Never again! It was an awful situation, lost some projects, and offcourse some money in my bussiness…I allready bought another firm’s NAS. This way of managing things is not ok WD…I am surprised that from 2018, or so I’ve heard that this problem persists, nobody sued you…

This is what they have replied me:

“We do not provide data recovery services or reimbursement for third party vendor services such as data recovery. There are many reasons as to why a drive can fail. We also encourage our customers to back up their data.”

Isn’t that funny!!!? A company that sells back up storage devices asking their customer to back up their data? I think I did, but I have chosen a wrong brand with a wrong device to back up my data! Moreover, I think the drive didn’t fail, all my data has been erased due to the failure of their system! And they gonna push all the responsibility back to their customer who trusted their brand!!!

What a irresponsible company!! Please think twice if you are going to get any of their products!!!

I am having the same issue! I am so frustrated. WD tech support has not been able to help so far. I’ve called them twice now. One of the techs sent me a link to an owner’s manual. Really? I work in IT&S myself, the last thing I would do would be to send someone an owner’s manual, which wasn’t helpful. I found the topic in the manual which outlines the problem, however with NO solution. The tech support person said he would call back as he is elevating my concern to a different tier.

**I think it is time for a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!!!
How many people are on here and lost their data? I too have the same issue. All of a sudden, nothing and like all of us, critical data.
I have now more than 8 hours on with customer support and their “Master Tech” who is doing the same things the previous lower level tech did. Reboot, turn on, turn off, Command arp -a, and more.
Then they said I had the wrong power cord…It was theirs. So they led me to buy another one of a certain part number telling me the unit may need different voltage…That did not work either.
Then I said send me a cord…They will not.
On and on this company is a PIECE IS JUNK.
Like all of us, we store critical data on a back up unit that the company does not stand behind…

Why I am not able to access my Cloud to day.

I’m in the same boat. It looks like the Mobile app is still working though if that helps?

Looks like it’s related to the following announcement around a potential security breach, thus they have proactively disabled much of their online services

Do you know if we’re stuck in limbo until online services become available or is there another savvy way to get direct access to the physical data stored in the not so useful white box? thanks in advance

Been in the same situation in october 2021. Stop buying this thing if you care about your data… We lost 2 years of work in our company…I can say that it was no sleep for us all the month of november that year. It is not a breach of security or anything …it is just a problem that they seem to have for years now…

I have an architecture company and stored tb’s of data in that white box. Projects, paid assets etc.

At least giving local access is that hard ? I will be thankful if WD lets us setup this machine as local hdd drive.

I’m using wd hdd’s since 2009. Started with wd black hdd as I can remember. I have not faced any problems with local devices of WD. But when it comes to online services, this company should stay away as long as find a solution to keep an online system and running.

I NEED WD TO LET ME ACCESS MY HDD LOCALLY ! I DONT CARE ABOUT CLOUD SERVICES
