IPhone app says no devices found

I have followed all the directions for setting this up but cannot seem to get the mobile app to work.  It says no devices foundf.  Drive is registered with Mionet and I am using a My Book Live 2TB.  Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi bjax123,

Can you verify the firmware version and mionet version on the drive?

Once registered with mionet, and you log into the the iPhone app WD Photo, you should see it.  Are you pictures located in the Pictures forlder within the public folder?

My firmware is as follows

MyBookLive 01.02.03 : MioNet 4.3.1.7

Yes pictures are loaded into the shared picture folder.  Thanks

I have exactly the same issue with both my iPad and iTouch.  I have the latest firmware for MioNet and My Book Live.  Help!

same problem here, on iPad and IPod touch!

Any solution?

If you are seeing a "No Device Found’ message in WD Photos after attaching your My Book Live to your MioNet account, you may need to change the Remote Access settings on your Public folder within the drive’s interface page.

  1. Login to your My Book Live’s interface page (Default: http://mybooklive). If you have renamed your drive, you will need to use the new name instead of mybooklive.
  2. Navigate to the Shares menu
  3. Select the Public folder
  4. On the right, see if the MioNet Remote Access option is checked.
     a. If it is checked, uncheck it and click Save at the bottom. After it saves, check it and Save it again.
     b. If it unchecked, check it and press Save at the bottom.
  5. Open WD Photos again. You should now see your drive.

Ok, thank you it works. Now I see my  “MyBookLive”. But: “No photos found”. In album view idem: “No photos found”. Does WD expect all my 250000 photos in one root directory?

Your .jpg/jpeg files need to be in Public\Shared Pictures, or you will not see them in WD Photos. They can be in sub-folders inside Public\Shared Pictures, but they must be in that folder or they will not appear in WD Photos.

Do I understand that I have to emty my 1999 to 2011 directories (and subdirectories) to the Shared Pictures folder to see my pictures in WD Photos?

WD Photos checks the Public\Shared Pictures directory constantly for new .jpg/.jpeg files and any sub-directories that contain those .jpg/.jpeg files. It then transcodes them into a thumbnail, an ipad-size and an iphone retina display size for fast download using the WD Photos app. Since there are currently no photos in Public\Shared Pictuers, your drive will have to finish transcoding the files before you see them in WD Photos. You will start to see some immediately, however depending on the number and size of the .jpg/.jpeg files, it may take anywhere from a few hours to a week to complete transcoding them.

If you are seeing your .jpg/.jpeg files all in one list, switch the view so you can see them by sub-directory.

Thank you for your honest answer. This makes the iphones/ipad app useless. i will removeve them from my devices.

With regard to this post, are there any plans to adjust this app so it canbe used? i spent hours checking my firewall etc think that was why i couldnt see any photos and now i see its a flaw with the app itself.

I’m paying for Mionet, i paid for the drive. I dont mind paying a small amount for an app that can understand directories, and im sure other will too.

I believe there is a misunderstanding- you can have as many folders as you want in the Public/Shared Pictures folder and they will show up as folders in the iPhone/iPad App. So if you have a 1999 folder, put it in Shared Pictures, and it will show up as a folder 1999.

Photos does not support any other root directory - but sub directories in Shared Pictures are fine.

I cant get mine to work either, when i click on “Browse”  it comes up with the message “you dont have a media storage device configured” how do I do this ? I have a MY Book 2TB plugged in, can this only be used for drives connected via network ?

Theres another app called serve to me

install it via ipad or iphone

works without any problems

you can stream videos music and Photos from mybooklive and watch it on the ipad ipad2 and iphone.

I use it myself cause the photo app from wdc  didtnt work like it should.

WD Photos is currently compatible with the following WD Network Devices:

My Book World (White Light)

WD ShareSpace

My Book Live

WD TV Live Hub (requires latest firmware)

To reiterate a previous discussion as well, WD Photos will show any .jpg/.jpeg file in any folder listed under Public\Shared Pictures. You do NOT need to take your photos out of their organized folders and put them on the root of Shared Pictures. Provided the files are .jpg/.jpeg, they will all appear in WD Photos once they have been transcoded.

The WD TV Live Hub will show all .jpg/.jpeg files on your WD TV Live Hub internal HDD provided Mobile Sharing is On.

II have tried everything you said Laura and there are still no devices found on the APP?   Can you please let me know what else may cause this?  I have also shut off the firewall on Norton 360 as a test and nothing

I have navigated to the Folder Shares and and it is disabled but I cannot open it to change access?

Please be sure to indicate which device you are having trouble with.

If you create a WD Photos support ticket, I will be able to contact you directly (phone/E-Mail) and help resolve any issues more expediently.

i am using the 2 TB western digital live  can you post the link to open a support ticket
