Is lan only setup possible?

I would like to setup the WD Live to Network only via a switch to other computers on the network.

All cables will connect to a router or switch (which ever will work) - none of the computers connected to the network will have Internet Access.

When I tried this setup the network connecton failed, I believed it was because there was no DNS being provided from the router.

Is it possible to network the WD Live to other computers with out Internet access?

Yes, it is.   Just ignore the DNS error, and also ignore the Internet Connection Test.

Set the IP Address and Subnet Mask of the WDTV to a unique IP on your network.

Set the GATEWAY to the address of one of your computers.

Set the DNS to the same as GATEWAY.

It should work, but none of the Internet functions will work, of course…
