I am sure that this is covered somewhere in this forum, but my search didn’t find anything that addressed the topic directly, so I thought I would solicit help.
I purchased two new WD Red drives when they were on sale last week to replace the two older Hitachi drives that are in my WDMyCloudEX2. The drives that are running in the unit now were used when I bought them four or five years ago, and even though they are still running well, I wanted to avoid problems and get the newer drives to hopefully guarantee dependable performance in the future.
So, my question is how do I do this? Do I simply pull one of the old ones out and installl a new one and let it recover? Do I shut the unit down, or do I the swap while it is running? Is there a routine for such a task?
As you can see, I have no idea how to get it done. Thanks for your help!!
