Live HUB won't see Mac shares

I’ve done everything that’s worked for me in the past, but the Live HUB just isn’t seeing my shares.

I’m on Snow Leopard.

I’ve gone to sharing, enabled “file sharing” and added specified folders to be shared. The green button says “Windows Sharing: On.”

Still, when I try select another content source on the HUB, I get nothing. I’ve tried Network Share, and Media Server, and it sees nothing.

I’m lost. Everything else works (weather, Netflix streaming.) I can transfer files (slowly…about 9-10 min for 400meg) over an 802.11n network. Belkin N 150 wireless adapter crammed into the front of the HUB. My router is a Linksys WRT150N with DD-WRT firmware.

EDIT: In my sharing pane, I’m told that “Windows users can access shared folders on this computer, and administrators all volumes, at smb://mycomputername.” So…SMB, but not being seen.

Eh?

Hey CrankyPants -

did you ever solve this issue??

I had same issue and downloaded Playback for Mac and it worked right away. I could never get it to find the network folders I shared on the Mac with the WD tutorial and many fruitless attempts to figure it out. It is a 7 day trial, 15 bucks to purchase. May be worth it, I wasted 2 hrs on this and now I’m watching a movie from my Mac HD.

Have you selected ‘Share files and folders using SMB’ ? You find this checkbox when you click the ‘Options’ button on the System Preferences > Sharing screen

Yes, it’s set that way, the WD Live Hub account is there  in the Sharing screen’s Users list, the workgroup is correct, and I can see the files on the WD from the Mac.  But WD can’t see Mac stuff. If I select ‘Network Share’ I get the red X and ‘No Storage Present’.  Only way I can get it to see my Mac is if I run the Playback program.  Then both the Network Share and the Media Server options work

All other functions (Netflix, Youtube) work fine too.

Have you tried unplugging / replugging the ethernet cable? I had to do that once when the Hub lost its’ way on the network.

Otherwise, it sounds like you’ve done everything correctly. I’m stumped, because I’m not having these problems.
