Longer Component Cable?

The Component Cable that’s provided with the WDTV Live Plus is pretty short.

Does anyone know where I can get a longer replacement cable?  Is it something propriatary or is that a standard type cable?

What exactly am I looking for when buying a replacement?

Do I just need a Component cable with Red/Blue/Green RCA jacks on one end and a 3.5mm jack on the other end?

Something like this?

I can’t use this because this is a Composite cable, not Component?

Is there some other, more popular device, that uses the same cable and I can search for that?

Just use the INCLUDED cable, plus any STANDARD Male-to-Male cable component cable, plus a “Coupler,” like this:

I see.  That’s a good solution.  I think have an extra standard component cable lying around.

No loss in quality doing it that way?

No loss in quality doing it that way?

Yes, there will be.  Component is an ANALOG signal, so the longer the cable and more connectors, there will be some loss of signal.

HOWEVER, it’s doubtful you’ll notice it.

I guess it’s worth a try.

I can get on one ebay for less than $2.

Any idea if any B&M stores might carry a coupler at a reasonable price?

Will a Roku XDS component cable work on this?

The WD lead is proprietary at the 3.5mm end. It appears that most other leads are wired to the jack plug differently.

My coupler should be here tomorrow, so hopefully that’ll work fine.

The coupler worked perfectly. Thanks for the idea.
