im having major major issues on my new wd tv live. After having little to no issues playing all my files in previous software updates, since updating to the latest version (1.06.04) movies that were always playable (.m2ts .mkv and everything else) are coming up with a “unable to play selected the selected file Please see user manual for a list of supported files.”
Now what would happen first is you start playing a movie and picture would appear but no sound and after about 30 seconds it would freeze. Try playing it again or any other movie after that the “unable to play selected the selected file Please see user manual for a list of supported files.” message appears. **bleep**?!
I’ve tried a power cycle, then device reset to factory settings and this problem still occurs. Even if i play a file on youtube this same flapping error appears.
I have the previous wdtv live in my room, if i put my hard drive in there to play the same movies, i have no issues at all…
Has anyone encountered this error on the new firmware? WD better come out with a fix for this soon because at the moment the **bleep** player is completely unusable.
Is this a firmware issue? Is it a known issue cause i can’t fathom what could have gone wrong because everything was perfectly fine before.
For anyone wondering i figured out that it wasn’t a problem with the latest firmware as i downgraded my firmware to the 2 previous ones but still encountered the same problems.
I have been able to specifically narrow it down to the player being unable to play an MP4 or MKV video with AAC audio codec. When this combination is used the movie will start playing for 30 seconds without audio then freeze. When trying to play the same file or any other movie file (regardless of video file type) i get a “unable to play selected the selected file Please see user manual for a list of supported files.” Hence then having to power cycle down and restart the unit.
Thing is, these files play absolutely perfectly on my older WD TV Live. Have WD done a complete dodge on us and secretly got rid of some compatibility of file playback on us?
Has anyone else encountered this issue.
