MBL Network Unavailable

Hi all,

I’m having an issue with my MBL showing up in my network (Running Vista). I know there are a lot of topics around this issue as I have been browsing the forum and trying some of the fixes that seem to be similar.

Quick background, I’ve had the MBL for just over 5 months, it’s been working great, always available in my network and never had any issues. Then last week it went “offline”, one minute it was there and we were using it and the next it was unavailable. Now when I click on my network’s it doesn’t show up and when I try to use the old shortcut it says that the “netwrok path is not found”. The MBL drive had a Blue LED for a day but now it is back to Green and appears to running fine as the bottom light on the back by the cat cable is amber and top one flickers green. My thoughts are then that this is a router issue where I am not very skilled.

Some of the things I have tried are, going into my network, ensuring all my file sharing in turned on, checking the netBIOS, ensuring my network is private, changing cat cables and resetting my wifi router. I’ve also tried WD Discovery, WD Link and using the CD that came with it. I’ve also opened up cmd.exe and ran net view but nothing shows up. So then I ran the net view IP address for my router but still nothing (wifi works fine). I am really at a loss as to what the next step is? Can one of you experts lay out a step by step guide on what I need to do? Or link another message that maybe I missed with the fix in it.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

You may try resetting the MBL, by holding  its reset button for 4 seconds.  If the light is green it shoud be ready to use, to confirm if there is an issue with your router you may plug it directly to the computer, bypassing the router, reset it again, reboot the computer, then use WD Link to try to discover the MBL.
