Hi,
Here’s an odd one.
I have a 2 year old 1TB white MBW.
It has given great service as a media server to PS3, XBox360 and Samsung Galaxy SII phone.
Today something has changed and none of those devices can access the shared content any more.
“No files shared”
The files are all visible using an FTP client and the Twonkymedia browserver on my PC.
In the PS3’s view of media server it always used to say [device name] and then TM, short of course for TwonkyMedia.
Sometimes the device would get in some kind of state and instead of TM shows as a Windows Media Center.
When this happened, the PS3 and XBox wouldn’t see any shared files.
Turning the MBW off and on again at the mains would fix this. The PS3 would correctly detect the TM and all would be well.
Today however, the PS3 is detecting the MBW as [device name] Twonkymedia not just ‘TM’
That’s the only visible difference but no files are seen, not on any device except my PC.
I have tried rescanning for files and rebuilding the DB as well as a good old fashioned ‘turn it off and on again’ but still the same.
I found a firmware upgrade to .12
That went fine but the problem remains.
Any ideas? Is this indicative of a failing drive/device or just one of those annoying quirks of the MBW?
I couldn’t find anyone else with the same problem as me, probably because the terms are so common.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Pete
