Media library – DVD folders problem

I’ve found another problem with ver. 2.06.10:

when one or more DVD folders are uploaded to the Hub over LAN, new content is not shown in media library as a “Title name”, which should be the same as the folder name of copied DVD, instead of this it is shown in movie list (Home->Videos) as a first vob file (VTS_01_0.vob) of each newly added directory. If I add four new DVD folders, I get four new “movies” named VTS_01_0.vob. The only way to force the Hub to properly recognize new DVD folders is executing command “Clear Media Library”. Reboot, power cycle or turning media library off and then back on, doesn’t help.

This happens only if Hub is in standby mode at the time when new DVD folders are copied to it and only if I’m adding DVD folders (avis, mpgs, mkvs… are OK). If Hub is booted to GUI when adding new DVDs, there is no problem at all, media library is automatically refreshed and new titles are instantly and correctly displayed.

Hi there, that’s actually more common than you think. Most of the times the Hub won’t see new files until it recompiles, and that needs a full shutdown…

I tell you what is strange though…

You can copy a folder onto the Internal hard drive and it will show up in a few seconds.

Yet, you copy a folder to a share, and you don’t see it till you re-compile. Boo.

Thank you both for your attention. But I’m experiencing a little different situation here

1. ThePizzaMatrix:  “_Most of the times the Hub won’t see new files until it recompiles, and that needs a full shutdown…” - _In my case full shutdown doesn’t help, though it shows “compiling library” after startup. I need to manually “Clear Media Library” always if I want that new folders are displayed under correct name, if media library is not cleared it shows VTS_01_0.vob…

2. wdtvhub:  “_You can copy a folder onto the Internal hard drive and it will show up in a few seconds.” - _Correct, if Hub is turned on (booted to GUI) when folders are copied to it. But if Hub is in standby mode while copying folders, I’m experiencing above described situation. I’m always copying in standby mode because it is faster as when booted to GUI - 8 MB/s vs. 5 MB/s.

3. wdtvhub:  “_Yet, you copy a folder to a share, and you don’t see it till you re-compile. Boo.” - _Same here. Boo

Reading with interest.

Q Mr PizzaMatrix:  How do you define a “Full Shutdown”.

Thanks

Press Remote Power button for 3 seconds or more

wdtvhub just said it for me, press the power on the remote for at least 3 seconds. When you just “tap” the power button , the Hub goes to sleep instead of fully shutting down.
