Movie and Music Metadata, Themes, and Overall Appearance

I have multiple questions in which i believe alot of people who are new to the hub are wondering.

1.) Music Metadata

Is there anyway to collect the metadata for your music collection such as the way it does for movies with backdrops of the artist, and if not… if i just manually write an xml file similar to the way it creates it for movies and add my own album covers/backdrops does it automatically search for the filename within the drive or do is there a filename such as wdtvlivehub/music/nirvana/nevermind/etc… as i do not see any type of file names in the movie’s metadata xml files.

I am also interested if anyone has any Music Genre Icon/Thumnail packs as ive found matching genre thumbs for the movies but cannot seem to find anything for music collections (such as rap, rock, jazz, classical, country, techno, etc etc)

2.) Metadata for movies issues

I have each of my movies in their own individual folder such as:

WDTVLIVEHUB / MOVIES / AVATAR / AVATAR.MP4

WDTVLIVEHUB / DIVX /  2012 / 2012.MKV

Now the large majority of my movies show the Metadata outside the movies folder, but around 10% and it seems completely random do not show the movies metadata (plot, director, actors, ect) unless i go into the folder and then it shows it…

has anyone figured out the reason why this is happening ? I’ve tried to rename the files to match the exact name of the folder such as if i had a file like movies\avatar\avatar-1080p-fxm-x264.mp4 i would just rename to avatar so that the file and folder have matching names, but this doesn’t seem to be the issue as i have files and folders that dont match and still work and ones that do match and dont work. Nor does it seem to be the filetype as an issue… and i cannot find any differences in the XML files to ones that show outside the folder and ones that show only within the folder.

3.) Has anyone created, or knows if anyone has created any complete themes for the WD TV LIVE HUB yet?

Have been searching everywhere for themes related to the LIVE HUB but all i can find are the moviesheets and homebrew firmware for the previous versions… if anyone knows of any themes whatsoever for this device please point me in the right direction

4.) And i’m also interested in any semi-made themes, such as genre icon packs and back ground images some of you might use for your WD TV LIVE HUB, If anyone has any screenshots of their themed or semi-themed hub please post as i would love to gain some creative ideas

5.) If you know of less known tips/tricks you have found within the WD TV LIVE wether it be created and meant by WDTV or a hack you were able to enable or found please post! always interested in more functionability.

6.) The WD TV LIVE HUB Is Solid… I love this device and hope that its creators and followers continue to update and progess this device.

If youre METADATA Isn’t showing up outside of your folder its because the folder name MUST match EXACTLY to the Metadata movie name. Simple things like

Folder: From Dusk Til Dawn

MetadatA: From Dusk “TILL” Dawn

Info wont show up unless the folder name ALSO has Two L’s

So simple fix (sometimes)

3:10 to yuma has a colon in the Metadata name, and you cant have a colon within the folder name so i’m going to attempt to edit the XML file to see if i remove the colons from the metadata if it will work correctly. will respond back with an answer on that

1 - No> 2 - Dont know!> 3 - Tony has who posts here often but mark my words it is very difficult and we need a proper software solution. WD dont seem interested in helping us customise our Hubs it seems as yet.> 4 - See above answer.> 5 - No. We await the B-rad firmware!!!> 6 - mostly agree.> > * * *

B-Rad is unlikely to be bothering with the Hub thanks to the booby-trapped firmware that will PERMANENTLY disable your Netflix access if you install 3rd party firmware.  His comments over at the WDLXTV forum give the impression he’s written off the Hub as a homebrew platform.

Disappointing to say the least.

ALSO NOTE :

If you have all of your movies within a folder like stated above and the information is not displaying on the outside folder

THE FOLDER’S MUST MATCH ALL UPPER/LOWER CASE

So if you have say folder " Knight And Day " and the Metadata name is “Knight and Day” with a lower case “a” then it will not display until you rename the folder to match exactly the to letter case
