My Book Premium II (wd10000c033-000) upgrade to 2x2TB RAID 0 to get 4TB - Problems

Hello,

I just bought 2x2TB WD Red drives to upgrade my old My Book Premium II (wd10000c033-000). I wanted to run it in RAID 0 to get the full 4TB out of it. I’m using a Mac running 10.8.4 and connected via Firewire 800. Using WD RAID manager, I can configure it fine in RAID 1 HFS+ and see the full 2TB, but when I configure it in RAID 0 HFS+, it comes up as 1.8TB!

Have I gone past the limitations of this old My Book where 2x2TB in RAID 0 isn’t possible? Any help appreciated. :slight_smile:

Yes.

The controller on that My Book Premium II might not support the full capacity on those drives.

This particular drive has been out for a while and WD has already upgraded dual drive enclosures a couple of times since this one was manufactured.
