Ralphael,
Apologies for my slow response, work has been crazy this week. I will be looking into why my MacBook is so slow this weekend. I’ve had the computer for almost four years and it’s been pretty banged up, so I would wager it could be any number of things. Will report back.
hi, have you try to connect my cloud to MAC / computer directly (gigabit) and test speed directly ?
i bought 3T my cloud at the end of Mar.
when i test it after installation… the transfer speed is unacceptable… 50 to 250 Mbps
(while my friend is 430 to 480Mbps).
i bought cat 7 and cat 6 cables for testing ( speed: no better)
i bought another lan realtek card for testing ( speed: no better)
i bought another lan intel card for testing ( speed: no better)
finally, i reinstall the window, the speed can achieve 430 to 480Mbps… i dont understand why, but i just share my finding with you…
in theory a good sata drive can achieve 150MBs. That is raw speed with no filesystem. It will slow down when you add a filesystem and an OS. so 80MBs is possible however without actual test figures and procedure, app, drive spec in WDMcloud it does not mean anything,
that’s why I would use CAT 6 /7 cables with gold plated contact point to reduce any signal loss.
even the cat 5e cable is enough

With digital signals on your LAN signal loss by contacts is absolutely neglible.
Only those who make the profit of your purchase will be happy about it
I found this thread while having speed issues as well and solved mine almost by accident. I was getting 60 sec or so on a 720MB file transfer. Network light on back of MyCloud was green so I knew it was connected at 1GB. Network adapter status on PC said connected at 100MB.
After playing with adapter drivers, settings, different cables, etc. I found out that orange light on the front of my WNDR3700 running DD-WRT means 1GB and green light means 100MB. Sure enough, lan port that was connected to computer was green (and the one connected to mycloud orange). Long story short, I moved the cable from the number 2 LAN connector on back of router to number 4 and got 1GB. I can go back and forth and repeat. Not sure why I’m not getting 1gb on the number 2, but my problem is solved.
So if you’re having problems try different lan port on back of router!
Hope this helps someone.

You situation is highly unusual - almost every gigabit router out there have all ethernet ports capable of gigabit connections. It clearly seems in your case one of the ports is defective and is not connecting at gigabit speed - but for 99.99% people that won’t be true. Doesn’t hurt to try a different port on the router - BUT it is highly unlikely to make any difference for most users.
I too have just bought and installed a WDMyCloudMirror 8GB and it looks like we’ve all been conned! I have connected it as per the instructions via the supplied cable to the lan port on my Nettgear modem\router and after the setup, which was remarkably easy, all looked good BUT this thing is as slow as a wet weekend!!
I thought I would put all my movies, music files etc on the Public Share\Music… \Video etc and stream them effortlessly through the Windows Media Player tf each of the three computers around the house, BIG Mistake, firstly to transfer the files to the MyCloudMirror, took an ETERNITY! I could have put the 0s and 1s in there quicker myself (literally many, many, many hours 20+), not only, but also, when I play my music through WMP it occasionally stops part way through a song for a second or two then carries on from wherever it chooses! ?
I can’t believe that in this day and age this can be happening, after all the marketing blurb I thought that WD would be a good choice but from a practical view this is a rubbish idea, I really can’t imagine that all those highly paid IT personel designed a system that gives such poor performance for what it was supposed to do.
Sorry, but would not recommend the MyCloudMirror and if the other similar systems give the same performance then we really have been conned!
The transfer speed varies greatly, for files from WDMM to a computer it’s in the region of 355KB\sec to 1.39MB\sec and transferring from a portable HD to the rear of the WDMM it’s about the same, so slow, it’s laughable,
If you want to speed up your WDMyCloud you have to stop some services from SSH bash.
Please, connect to your wdmycloud through SSH and login, then write these commands:
service wdphotodbmergerd stop
service wdmcserverd stop
service samba restart
Then, you have a full 1000mbit speed. I reach over 100mb/s in read/write speed.
Bye!
Dario
PS sorry for my bad english
