MyBookLive not found as a target backup

After hours of troubleshootign and problem solving I have managed to get my MyBookLive to show up again in my list of Target backup device icons. Although not 100% certain this is the solution, this is what “seems” to have worked for me.

Windows 7;

  1. Start

  2. Control Panel

  3. Administrative Tools

  4. Double click Services in thhe right hand panel

  5. Scroll down to WD Backup and WD Drive Manager entries

  6. Stop both of them (follow the instrucctions)

  7. Start both of them

  8. Go back to your desktop and start WD Smartware (as it was ended per 6 and 7 above)

  9. You should find MyBookLive is now available in your list of Target devices

Hoping this solves your problem.

Welcome to the Community.

I thank you for your contribution. Indeed, if these services are not properly running then WD SmartWare is affected, which may lead to a WD NAS not being recognized.

What about on a Mac?
