I just bought a new MyCloud 3TB.
While doing the recommended procedure in the quick installation guide (via SW Setup), is failed saying that an error was found (nothing specific).
Then i tried via web browser to access it, and it is asking for a username and password?! Which i never setup.
I reseted 40s while powering up the disk and now if i go to the webpage it always says Initializing Device
It’s been like this for 4 hours.
The box was sealed, brand new.
Any suggestions?

Suggest you go to the Learning Center, WD TV Live , and download the setup software and try that.
The firmware is pretty old - possibly your new item sat on a retailer’s shelf for quite some time.
current version is 04.04.03-113 which was released May 23 2016
I suggest either:
1-call WD Support 1 (800) 275-4932
2-return item to retailer for replacement
Yes that firmware is VERY old. The 04.01.01-413 firmware was released on 11/19/2014, with the following version, 04.01.02-417, being released about a month later on 12/17/2014.
Because the firmware was so old and the OP indicated they bought it “new”, it makes me wonder if that My Cloud was a return that was not checked and simply reboxed as new and resold by the retailer. Either way the OP, as indicated, should contact WD Support directly.
I’d also suggest doing a forced page refresh (close the tab, or do ctrl-refresh). It may just be that you’re talking to a ‘ghost’ of the UI.
What colour is the front panel LED?
