Mycloud write protected windows 10

hi, i spent a few hours trying to get write access from windows 10 to mycloud but no luck. I can see the drive, see the files, but can’t write to it, even though permissions are 777, and it shows RW access in properties in Windows 10

Have you accessed the My Cloud Dashboard to see what the settings are for the Share that contains the files your having a problem with? Is that Share set to Private and if so have Users (again created through the Dashboard) been granted access to the Private Share?

Generally one does not manually change the Linux permissions on a file that is stored on the My Cloud. Rather one uses the My Cloud Dashboard to configure access to Shares by setting them to Private and then configuring user access permissions to that Share. Once configured one should then be prompted to enter a user name and password (created through the My Cloud Dashboard) to access that Private Share’s contents.

thanks Bennor, appreciate your help. I did all settings via the dashboard. I only mentioned Linux permissions because they are visible in Windows 10. The share is public, users have been created via the dashboard and have access to the share. I will make it a private share to see if that makes a difference

so…i tried that and it didn’t make any difference.
