Hello, i am hoping someone can shed some light on my situation. I recently updated my computer, with Windows 10. I have no problems accessing my drive through the web portal. However i am unable to write to my share. I know i have full access to my share yet, when i try and save something to the share i keep getting " You can’t upload files because access to this cloud is read only" If i Change the share to a “Public” share i am able to create folders and save files to the share. I have no issues from mobile devices saving to the one private share. Just wondering why the web access does not allow me to save to my hare
Might be a Windows Credential issue. Access the Windows Credentials and remove any My Cloud credentials entries from the Windows Credentials section.
Hi Brennor,
I’m tech savy and I’m not. Where would I find the windows credentials. I tried with both Google Chrome and Firefox and neither programs allow me to save anything to my private share. Just can’t seem to figure this one out
Are you trying to copy files to a Private Share that is on a remote My Cloud? I.e. a My Cloud not on the same local network as the computer?
Normally for local network access to the My Cloud one does not use a web browser (other than access the My Cloud Dashboard for device configuration). Typically using the web browser is only when accessing the My Cloud remotely using the MyCloud.com web portal.
If you are having trouble with remote access, check the user settings in the My Cloud Dashboard to ensure that user has Full Access to the Private Share in the Users section of the Dashboard.
See the following web article which has general information on how to access the Windows Credentials Manager.
Hello,
it is for remote access. when i am logged into my home network i can access the drive through finder on my Mac or through my documents on a PC. when i try to access the drive remotely through “My Cloud” i am not able to write to the share. While at home no issues. I only have issues through the web browser. I know i have full access as i have full access on my iPad and my iPhone through the app. I even have full access on my iPhone through “Files” i just don’t have full access through Chrome, Firefox or Safari. Not sure why

How are you accessing remotely? When I access my network remotely, using a VPN (don’t access without a VPN) my IP address gets assigned in a different subnet than other devices on the network. I have an EX2 - - -it will block such access unless “Settings”/“Network”/“Windows Services” - - > MasterBrowser is “On”. The “My Cloud” devices don’t have this setting. . . not sure they will permit such access.

Huh. I wasn’t even aware you COULD access files through a web browser. I always use File Explorer. I just tried . . . ok. . .I got it to work if I referenced a subdirectory. (can’t access root directory which is the share level). Not sure WHY you would want to access files this way.
Are you receiving an error message when trying to copy files to the My Cloud using the MyCloud.com web portal? If so can you post a screen shot of that error message?
Does the issue affect all Shares or just a specific Share (Private or Public)?
One troubleshooting step is to setup another user in the My Cloud Dashboard, give them remove access and then see if that user experiences the same issues trying to upload a file through the MyCloud.com web portal interface.
One should also look at their security software, especially if using a computer provided by one’s employer. Could be there are restrictions set in place by the employer on uploading files to online sites. Some security software can interfere with certain My Cloud actions. As a troubleshooting step one could disable that security software and see if the issue persists.
The ability to access one’s My Cloud remotely is perhaps the main selling point of the product. Hence the name “Cloud” in the product name.
The MyCloud.com web portal is what it is. Some have issues with it. Some browser add-on’s/extensions and some security software can interfere with one’s ability to use it. Sometimes the My Cloud looses connection to that web portal and the remote access feature has to be turned of and then turned back on.
The multi bay My Cloud models have many more features than the single bay/single drive My Cloud (the general subject of the My Cloud subforum). Some of those additional features/options including using other methods of remote access than the two official remote access options (MyCloud.com or the insecure FTP) that is supported on the single bay/single drive My Cloud model.
