MyCloudEx2 not found in the new network

MyCloudEx2 worked perfectly fine one week ago. The configuration was Modem + Ethernet port of ASUS router. The IP is something like 192.168.1.* in my LAN.

I switched to a new Internet Service Provider, they sent me a new XB7 (xfinity model) gateway (a modem + router combo). I hooked up MyCloudEx2 to the ethernet port of the gateway. The 3 indicator lights of MyCloudEx2 are all steady blue.

However, the admin page of the gateway, MyCloudEx2 does not show up as connected in the connected device list.

For the new XB7 gateway, all connected devices take the IP in the form of 10.0.0.*.

I ran the MyCloudEX2 setup tool again, trying to discover the device with it. The setup tool also reported “not found” error.

I really appreciate any advices.

I understand that Ex2 is not supported by WD anymore. I was wondering if I get a new MyCloudEx2Ultra, and then plugin my existing 2 hard drives from the old device, will this work? The current hard drive is 3TB, with 2TB used.

Thanks!
Greg

The problem is not your mycloud, it’s your network settings. Reset your router. Also try a 40 second reset on the mycloud. Shouldn’t be necessary but can’t hurt.

Can you access the settings in your router?

Thanks for your input.

Later I remembered I set the network mode IP to be static instead of dynamic.

I hooked up the device to the original router, used the admin page to change to DHCP.

After that, the device is attached to the new gateway. Bingo! it shows up on the new network.
