I have a WD800B002 - RNN external drive. I don’t have either the data cable or power supply. Can anyone tell me where to get a data cable (6 pin IEEE1394) with a converter for usb, as well as a power cable (appears to be a 6 pin)?
That an ancient piece of hardware … i’m guessing about 20 Years old ?
Firewire to USB convertors had significant reliability problems and a 6 Pin Power supply is not common these days.
Even if you did manage to buy those 2 things … the actual 80GB internal hard drive might be dead or the data corrupted and then you’ve wasted your money.
Personally, i would remove the hard drive and connect it to a Desktop PC or a USB Enclosure … if it works, retrieve any data on it and then dump it.
Thanks for advice. If I did remove the hard drive do you know where I would find instructions to do that? Our local PC doctor can do it but cost is steep, trying to avoid that.
