I’ve got a problem that I hope somone could help med with.
I’ve had my player now for a couple of weeks and everything’s been working fine. But then the other day when I turned it on my network shares wasn’t there . I tried a reebot but with the same result, a factory reset and still the same and then an other reeboot and then they were back. It all worked fine for another day or two and then they were gone again. I tried the same as the first time and got it to work again. But now tonight they were gone again and now I can’t seem to fix it.
It’s only the network shares that are affected, media servers show up as they are supposed to and I can go online with it so it’s not a network problem. I can also access the network shares from my laptop (the folder I’m trying to connect to is on my desktop) so it’s not a problem with the share.
Has anyone encounterd this or have any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks, seems like it worked since the files shares were back after I got my desktop as Master. A bit wierd tough, in theory I could have some files on my laptop to that I want to access, so why should it matter if the laptop or the desktop is master?
Right, I think that’s enough explaination of why :D. One more wuestion tough, is there any way to switch the master manually, other then turning the coputers off, in case I run in to this again?
There are registry tweaks that will alter the election results, but it can be difficult to FORCE a switch.
There are microsoft tools that can do it (like the browstat command) but most home users don’t have those tools installed, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find them. :(
This is one reason why I use a NAS that stays up 24x7… It’s the Master Browser … ALWAYS, and is never shut down.
