New EX2 Ultra User - Issues

Hi All

Had a MyCloudMirror for years but it finally died. Bought two new 2TB Red HDs and an EX2 Ultra Unit off eBay.

Plugged everything in, go to the EX2 login page, asked me to choose language and set up, etc.

I get the dialogue box “please insert hard drives(s) into the slots of the My Cloud EX2 Ultra System…”, etc. I put in the new drives click continue, but nothing happens drive lights flash, then go red and the above dialogue box appears again and I’m stuck in a loop. Any ideas? If I could get to the dashboard I could format from there, create a RAID, etc. I could do this on the Mirror, but not it seems on the EX2.

One other thing I’ve tried. If I unplug the unit, plug it back in, the EX2 seems to skip the setup procedure, shows the login but I get the dreaded “power has been lost from the system…” red text, so I can’t get any further that way either.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like the EX2 Ultra you bought from eBay is still trying to mount the HDD it was configured with. You can refer to this article on reset and reconfigure the units -

Thanks, tried that but still stuck in the same loop. Asks me to constantly insert HDs, click continue, then insert HDs, click continue, etc. Ah well. I think I will return it.
