Sorry for the cross post but I think I posted this in the wrong place yesterday and I’ve received no replies.
I received the WDTV Live SMP for Christmas as a gift. I have it hooked up via HDMI to an Onkyo R380 (HDMI 1.4) receiver and out to a Pany ST30 display. I went in to the setup, updating the firmware to the latest version and set the video HDMI to auto and and the audio to “Digital Pass-Thru over HDMI”
I like it so far, and It works fine for all my video files, Vimeo, SnapFilms and Flingo, but it won’t play any standard music wav files, MP3, or MP4 audio on Pandora, over the network, or from an attached USB drive.
If I change the audio output to stereo, Pandora and Music audio works, but I no longer get DD 5.1 or DTS audio. Looking at my receiver I can see it lights up appropriate with the pass thru and when I do a web service like Vimeo it lights up the PCM input light on the Onkyo, but when music plays nothing lights up as if it sees no input.
I’ve tried to power cycle and rest the device but no dice. I’d hate to have to keep switching audio output back and forth, that will surely make my wife throw the box across the room. Has anyone else run across this? And is there a fix? I tried to search this forum but didn’t find anyone else with the same problem.
