Hehe.  Just keep telling yourself that…

Who told you you had to buy a Live Plus?

I already sold my first wd player, then bought the live, now I need to go buy the live plus?!?!

Give me a break!  Whats up with this company??  This is totally ridiculous!

I know exactly what you mean – I feel the same way about a stupid little company you might have heard of, by the name of Apple.  They keep releasing all these versions of this phone that I have to keep buying because they keep adding stuff to it all the time – why can’t they just have ONE device do it all?  They ought to wait until they get everything in the world that people need in a phone and THEN release it.

I’ve just about had it with them – I can’t imagine they make any money, so they’ll probably go out of business.  I think my next phone is going to be made by AT&T (they still make phones, don’t they?)

An apple iPhone and  wd media have about as much in common as a rock and horse.  First generation iPhone didnt only work with other iPhones.  First iPhone wasn’t so flawed that it only connected calls every once in a while and dialed China when you called your friend next door.  It wasnt as if the 3rd generation iPhone finally bridged the technology gap and figured out how to connect calls to Nokias and Motorolas and your buddy instead of China.

The core function of the iPhone was to make calls and connect to the web to the best of the technology at that time.  I’m sure you can still get updates for that first gen phone to make it work better.  The later iPhone gives a better camera and web speed and ons to a previously COMPLETELY  solid, tried, tested and true phone.

Should I have to buy a new virus program each time a new virus comes out?!?

Should I have to buy a new OS everytime MS adds a new service pack or an update to iron out an issue???

Should I have to buy a new coffee maker everytime Nabob comes out with a new coffee blend?

This WD player  should be upated more frequently to be sure all media formats, codecs work or fix whatever seems to be going on with so many users.  If there are issues, put out more firmware updates until the basic core functions work famously.  Something it seems they’ve yet to do.

Get things right, then build live and plus and add Netflix and all that garbage.

Their core functionality is flawed and needs to be ironed out.  Plain and simple!

Shouldn’t need to keep buying new players instead of getting a simple firmware updates.

Duck, I understand your rant… but your previous post implied the lament about lackingl FEATURES, not bug fixes.

I agree with you that until the documented “Core Set” works as stated, they should continue to work on it.

But the addition of new features?   No.

Ok!

TonyPh, we are on the same page!

Well, hopefully the WD developers read the forums, cause I’m sure the competition is.

Sooner or later someone will get the technology it right, word will get out and that’s who will win market share and their product will flourish!

Peace!

And the WD folks do CONTINUE to work on the firmware for the Live (and even older players).  So they do understand the need to get things right.  But trying to say that you need to buy a Plus is just silly – that had to come out for Netflix but that was an added feature just like the new iPhones added features (indeed, the core functionality of the Live and the Plus is identical except for Netflix).

WD will come out with new products – every company needs to do that or it will die.  Whether you buy them or not is up to you.

I will sit and wait patiently for the next firmware update that will clear up the last of the outstanding issues…
