I have a problem. I can’t connect to public on my macbook. When I want to open this folder. It write me don’t have permission to view its contents. I tried to connect like host and admin. There is same problem.
Reboot your Mac, then access your unit’s Dashboard and check the permissions used by the Public share, then manually map the unit as a registered user using SMB or CIFS in the “Connect to server” option in the menu bar.
Hi there, I tried it how you wrote me. I still can’t use public folder. I made screen shot for you. Can you look at it??? I registered as admin + password who is same like access to my cloud. Thanks
As a test, try connecting to that Public Share folder using AFP rather than SMB and see if the error persists. Example:
afp://WDmycloud/Public/Shared Music
Also try using the My Cloud IP address rather than the My Cloud name (wdmycloud).

One can usually find the My Cloud IP address by either accessing the My Cloud Dashboard > Settings > Network > Network Profile section or by accessing their network router to see what IP address it is handing out to the My Cloud if one hasn’t configured the My Cloud for a static IP address.

Can you access the My Cloud Dashboard using a web browser? Generally http://wdmycloud.local on the Mac. If so navigate to the Dashboard > Settings > Network page and obtain the IP address listed in the Network Profile subsection. Try using that IP address rather than “wdmycloud” when mapping the My Cloud.
Also try mapping different folders or just the top level of the My Cloud.
