Question about 7.1 passthrough

As a WDTV Live user I was trolling the Hub forums when I noticed the 7.1 passthrough update in FW 2.04.13

Can someone please explain exactly what this enables?

Is it DTS-MA / Dolby TruHD passthrough?

PCM passthrough?

Where did you see that?    As far as I know, there’s no such capability…

Supports 7.1 channel audio passthrough.
Updated audio passthrough options menu.

Ahh.   I’m guessing that’s 7.1 channel PCM.

Dobly TruHD *is* supported in certain containers (namely TS and M2TS) , but I’ve never come across a 7.1 channel source.  All of my BD’s are either DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD 5.1.

DTS-HD MA 7.1 is definately *NOT* supported.
