I’ve currently got a 2TB MyBook plugged into the usb port of a 2TB MyCloud device for backups/safepoint. Since the last firmware update, the safepoint I have set up has been working great with no issues.
However, I’ve noticed that if I browse to the mycloud using smb, that the safepoint drive is visible and in the open to everyone (with login credentials setup on the mycloud). I changed the settings in the MyCloud control panel so that no one would have access, but it doesn’t seem to do anything - interestingly, if I login to the mycloud using the ios and android apps, the external drive share is not displayed).
I’d like to not have the safepoint drive visible to everyone because others files can be browsed by anyone and that defeats the purpose of having different user logins on the mycloud in the first place.
Trying to take the obvious out of the way: when you go to the NAS admin ui, under shares you will see the share corresponding to your USB disk. Is this share public?
No, the switch for Public Access is set to off (same with Media Serving); the only two users (one is the administrator, the other a general user) I have setup on the My Cloud have also been set to No Access.
