OK so after struggling to get my Music Library onto my MyCloud Device thought I should create a safepoint before going any further.
However after a few hours I get this message…
- Your safepoint cannot be created due to a failed request. Please try creating your safepoint again. (36123)
Any ideas? The safepoint is being created on a USB Drive that is attached to MyCloud Device and does have the right permissions and also has enough space on it to support the backup.
It has done this twice now and I want to sort this before I move on to adding more music to my system.
Thanks
Seacourt.
Safepoint would be great if it worked reliably and transparently.
Unfortunately it doesn’t - as you have discovered.
I would love to be able to offload this task from my computer to MyCloud…
Use any commercial backup software so you can see what is going on and fix any problems that might arise.
One caveat: Safepoint copies ALL the files on MyCloud, including hidden system-created files of music and images.
Third party software may or may not do this. So your restore (if you ever have to do one) may or may not be complete.
There will also be the shares and users to restore. I wish WD had a settings backup/restore function that only the they can write and leave the files backup/restore function to more capable software.
Final check: take your USB out of MyCloud and plug it into your computer. Are the file modification dates/times the same as the originals? Mine were different (offset by 9 hours) and I don’t know why.
Good luck, Richard.
