I’ve had my Live Hub since Feb 2011 and am loving it - I do frequent the board here to lurk and such. So here’s what I’m wondering about:
We have some of our in-laws living with us now, and while they’re not totally un-tech savvy (they access the Live Hub on their laptops to watch movies on occasion). I want to get them an HDTV though, as they’re still in the dark ages. Rather than get another streaming device to go along with that, I’m hoping to find a TV that has wifi built in that can access the Hub through our home network.
I’m thinking that would be easier for them to deal with. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?
I do not have any experience doing this but it should work fine if you buy a TV that can connect to your network (wifi or ethernet) and is a DLNA client. You would use the function on the TV that searches for DLNA servers on your network and then connnect to the Live Hub. You of would of course have to make sure the Server portion on the HUB is turned on, which you can do through the network section of the setup menu.
As above, I have not actually tried this out so hopefully someone here who has a setup like this will chime in and either confirm or dispute my comments. You can find a list of DLNA complient TVs at http://www.dlna.org/
What was said above is correct, but keep in mind that high bandwidth content (like full-res BD rips) stored on the Hub may not stream without issue to the TV, especially if it connects to your network via wireless.
