Hello all -
This is my first post here and I really need some guidance. I’ve purchased the WD Live Hub and would like to use it’s streaming features, particularly Netflix on a bedroom TV. However, my router is in a separate room. I have the Hub successfully connected to the router and my laptop and PC can see the Hub and share files. Now, I want to connect a Pioneer HDTV, purchased in the last year to the Hub for streaming Netflix. If I purchase a wi-fi adapter for the HDTV, will I be able to see the Hub’s interface on my bedroom TV? Just seeing the files, like I can on my computers won’t help, because I don’t have a ton of stored movies. If connecting a wi-fi adapter to the HDTV won’t work, then I’m thinking I’ll move the Hub to the bedroom and connect the wi-fi adapter to it for network connectivity. I’ve ordered the IOGEAR universal wi-fi adapter. Does anyone have experience using this with the Hub?
Many, many thanks in advance.
Kim
No you wont see the interface. All the Hub shares is the files in network mode, if you want the interface it will need to be connected to your TV.
You need to make sure the wifi adapter is in the WD list, if not you may have issues.

Thank you! I just ordered the TP-Link TLWN721N from Best Buy for $7.99 (PM to Amazon). I will attempt to connect the hub to my bedroom TV with wireless adapter for connectivity. If I have issues with streaming speeds, I’ll go to the livewire setup to keep the hub in my bedroom and connect it to the nework via the livewire adapter. Would that work? The livewire setup is a little expensive. Do you have any other suggestions?
Yes I think people use the Livewire or something of that type,
I suppose it’s up to your budget and layout of your home, and what you are streaming.
I think the majority on here would agree that wired is the way to go, especially if you want to stream High Definition material. But if you are close to your router then it may be acceptable, but I have seen issues with wireless setups on here, so as I said, wired is the way to go if you can.

Thank you again - much appreciated!
I’ve also seen issues with livewires where if they are on different circuits they may not work or work as well as they should. Arc fault breakers can cause them trouble too.
Results vary with every installation.
