I am ready to pay for solving this issue for the person that solves my problem through e.g. Skype or Whatsapp.
I have just bought WD My Cloud Home NAS, I have put some .mp4 files on that and I wanted to watch it on my Android TV (Sony) through Plex app or Kodi, but I do not see any Folders or files from my WD My Cloud Home NAS.
The address of my WD is 192.168.1.33
On the TV, there is Plex app installed and Kodi Installed. In Kodi app, I have managed to install also “plex add-on”, but I do not see any folders or files from the WD.
On my laptop and on my smartphone, I have installed the official “WD discovery app” and also the Plex app.
When I run the WD app on my laptop or mobile, I see the files and folders on my WD NAS, including the “Plex” folder.
When I run the Plex app, I do not see any files or folders from my WD NAS.
When I type “http://192.168.1.33:32400/” in Google Chrome, the Plex app opens, but I do not see any files and folders from my WD NAS.
The problem is, that I do not see any files from my WD NAS on my Android TV.
You may need to review the instruction on how to install the Plex Media Server (PMS) on the My Cloud Home (MCH). You can’t see your files until you install PMS and PMS can only see files on certain special folders in the MCH private user space not just any folder. Click on the few instruction links on how to enable PMS for the MCH in the article below - if you don’t further click on the links it you won’t see it. Kodi will not see any files on the MCH private space, only the files on SMB (LAN) public space can be seen.
*warning about Plex, especially on the current MCH firmware - it is feature limited and may work poorly even after you do everything right. WD and Plex are working on beta versions of firmware and Plex that may eventually improve functionality.
After contacting the WD technical support , I gave up. I have returned the WD My Cloud Home to the seller and bought Synology DS118 NAS. I managed to set up the Synology NAS in 2 minutes. WD? Never again
