Unable to use the dashboard, shows 0Gb used & empty folders

Hi all, i have a MBLD 4Tb that after a lot of initial problems and a few calls to technical support i have now been using for about 6 months to stream media around the home. I was unable to use the built in media server (just wouldn’t work) so i set it up as an smb share and that has worked fine for a while with a WDTV Live, D-Link Boxee Box & Original Xbox running XBMC. I had it running as a 2Tb with mirrored drives in case of failure but i ran out space so copied everything off the drive, set it to spanned volumes and once finished reset to factory settings. All complete i copied my data back over which left me with lots of free space.

Last night i copied around 170Gb of video data to the device but it kept hanging while transferring (via ftp) for a few minutes at a time. I thought a reboot might help since its not had one for a couple of weeks. Hit the reboot and now it shows up as a mapped network drive in Windows 7 with about 1.7Tb used and i can access it. Full directory listing is there as before but all directories are empty. Connecting via ftp again shows all directories but all show as empty. If i try and log into the dashboard (which is painfully slow by the way) it logs in (although without requesting my password and asks to me to secure my device) but i am unable to do anything. Clicking on any of the menu items just reloads the main dashboard screen. SSH is not enabled on the device and logging into the dashboard and then changing to http://{ip address}/UI/ssh just reloads the main dasboard screen again. I have tried hitting the reset button on the back of the unit, it resets but problem persists. i have tried un-plugging the unit and leaving it off for a couple of hours but once started, problem persists.

The smartware icon in my taskbar shows the mybookliveduo but temp is unknown, used space shows 0% and raid status is unknown.

Short of removing the drives and trying 3rd party software to access my files i am out of ideas. Please help me at least retrieve my data.

Thanks

Hello,

Please check your private messages.

Hi Hamlet, replied to your private message.

Got up this morning to the MyBook having no power at all. When i unplugged and then started it up again it flashed a red light on the front. Swapping the drives over to try and use the B drive in the A slot allowed the mybook to boot but problem persists. Shortly after though the red light returned. I contacted support by telephone today and the mybook has been accepted for an RMA and will be heading back to WD on Monday. Appears at least one of the drives have failed.

Thanks
