I have set my wd cloud to automatically backup my photos on my iPhone. But I have to start the my cloud app on my phone before the backup starts. Is it possible that the backup automatically can start when I’m on my wifi?

The app must be open and in the foreground before the backup can start and must remain in the foreground during data transfer.
The Android app manages in the background. Is the iOS app different in that respect?
I just tested it on my Androiud phone; took a picture, and almost immediately had a notification it had been backed up.
