Userid / password for Windows Share?

Hi

I`ve just bought a Personal Cloud 4TB.

I have registered on cloud and can access externally.

3 users have been registered … user1, user2 and user3

When using WD Desktop app, transferring a 1.5 GB file on my internal network takes 65 mins.

So I thought I would use a Windows Share.  I can see cloud in my workgroup.

But if I try to map a drive… and use the users mentioned earlier, none of them work.

I`m trying to speed up the transferring of files.

regards s

Ok, uhm, what do you mean?   Are you getting an error message or something?

What exactly happens when you try to use them? what exactly do you mean by “none of them work”? have you mapped the shares yet?

lol Tony, I’ll leave this one to you.

The shares are mapped to the users with full access.

They are not however public.  But each user has full access.

Using Quick view , if I try to map a drive to one of the shared… a dialbox open with userid and password

I enter in the username and password and get the error…

"The network folder specified is currently mapped using a different user name and password.

To connect using a differen username and password, first disconnect any existin mappings to this network share"

Firstly I dont have any other mappings.

Secondly I`m tried all three users and their passwords.

thoughts?

Run a CMD as an admin.

You’ll have to run net use to see your connections. Most likely you have an open connection to that share with a different account. (which was probably added automatically by QuickView)

Delete all net connections and try again.

Net Use * /delete

Then try to map the drive.

hi

As you can see from my share…  1st picture … TVSERIES is a share on my cloud.

User : Sanjay has full access.

Now as you suggest, I use NET…

Even if I use NET… I still get the same error.

The other shares are mapped, but you`ll notice that TV SERIES is not mapped.

See command line below…  Password “blacked” out.

The fact that I have other shares should not cause me to not map to the TVSERIES share.

Or is this a bug ?

Can’t see pictures.

I’d recomend dropping all shares using NET use * /delete then just try to map the one you are having issues with.

That makes no sense…

But I have deleted all NET shares, as suggested.

If I map a drive… and use command.

net use S: \SnowJayCloud\TVSERIES <> /USER:sanjay

I then get a error saying Password is incorrect.

But that is tha password for that user.

Any thoughts?

I applied the firmware patch (03-03-01-156)

After the patch this works.  It seems that the firmware contains more security enhancements, although not in the release notes.
