Using Dropbox App with the EX2 Ultra - where do the files go?

I just got a my cloud ex2 ultra 8tb, i set it up
as raid1 so basically 4tb mirror, and in the apps section i downloaded
dropbox app (I currently have a dropbox acct already).

I go thru the prompts of signing into dropbox via the apps section,
it says it’s enabled, I click details it shows it’s installed and the
date, don’t laugh but where or how do I use it? I have the iphone app
and I can see in the wd software that i can see and access dropbox but
on the actual nas unit itself, when I go into it via computer i see my
user name, my wife’s user name, one that says public, time machine
backup and one called smartware.

I have gone thru all of these folders smartware is empty, time
machine backup is empty, my folder and wife’s folder have some basic
content and public has the main folders of pics docs video but at this
time I have nothing in them.

So by linking up dropbox with this I thought it would somehow pull
the dropbox data to the nas into a folder as a backup of dropbox so to
speak, is it basically just so i can access the dropbox content via the
iphone app (In other words im not finding any dropbox backup folders or
options to set up one).

When I sign into dropbox thru the browser i can see under settings
apps linked the wd cloud and my cloud device both have access approved
and full, but I can’t figure out what I am missing in terms of getting
the content backed up to the nas.

Perhaps it would be best to contact WD Support for detailed instructions. You can do so over the phone or via E-mail.

I’ve just installed Dropbox on my EX2 and the app configuration page showed the Local Sync folder as /Public/Dropbox. As I didn’t want all my Dropbox files to be publicly visible, I immediately stopped it syncing and created a user account with the same credentials as my Windows PC, which automatically created a private share with the same name. I then went back to the Dropbox app configuration page and changed the Local Sync folder to my-share\Dropbox.
