Video freezes periodically, then fast forwards when streaming - ethernet

Accessing my WD My cloud with a WD TV live through ethernet. I think it’s a data transfer issue, since when I stream (network share) vidoes that are 720p, a few times during the stream it freezes for a few seconds, then fast forwards the video and then plays back normally after a minute or so. I also have a MY Book on the same network that works with no problem. 

Finally when I copy files from my PC, the My cloud drive is faster. So what gives?

I’ve seen the same thing, using the same setup, but only on the WDTV that is using WiFi.  My other WDTV is hard-wired Enet, and never burps.  I’ve been attributing the pause to a WiFi network event that uses just more bandwidth than the WDTV needs to sustain a stream.

There was also a post last year about the way the WDTV uses the network while ‘streaming’.  There was tremendous overhead just opening and closing sockets, way more than you would expect.  Don’t know if WD ever addressed the excessive overhead issue.
