WD Elements player - No video shuffle feature!

I’m sure that this has been raised before in this forum but I am placing my entry in here anyway to record my ire and dissatisfaction at the ridiculous absence of this rather basic feature.

It’s almost like WD have made an assumption that all video will be Movies (and why would you want to shuffle movies.)

Fact of the matter is however that there is a rather popular medium called the MUSIC VIDEO . Have WD never heard of MTV?

It would be extremely useful to have the shuffle functionality on video as already exists for audio tracks on this unit.

Surely this is not rocket science to implement. My 3 year old 250 GB  MPEG-2 Multimedia player, which this is meant to be the replacement for, supported this feature  from day 1.

I have 300+ MPEG-2 music videos which play Ok on the unit but currently in alphabetical order (by title) only which gets a little tedious after a while.

BTW WD I do not know if you have read your own manual for the Elements player but in that it says, in black and white, that it does support video shuffle but in reality it is not supported in the current firmware.

Graham Warren.

Do you have the Gen 1 or Gen 2 of this device?

Not sure - How do I check this out and does it make a difference as the firmware update appears to be the same for both models

why would you want to shuffle videos? o.o

Not aware of any player that supports that. You can play all the file on a folder by selecting the first one and hit ok instead of play.

If you want a better player all toguether get a Live Hub

Live Hub doesn’t have video shuffle, either, unless you build a playlist.

If the top of your box has the DTS logo, it’s a Gen2.  If there’s only “HDMI” on the top, then it’s a Gen 1.

The firmware is NOT the same for both models…

1.01.10 is the Gen 1.

1.00.10 is the Gen 2.
