(WD EX4100) System clock test fail

Hello all,

I have a 2017 WD My Cloud EX4100, some weeks ago I opened it to clean inside from dust.
While I was there with all parts disassembled I changed the CMOS battery with a new one (Energizer CR2032 still in its package) just in case. Reassembled and started the NAS, everything worked fine (fan rpm is good, temperatures are ok, system clock was synchronized), but i didn’t do a system test with the embedded utility.

Two days ago I did the test and I received this error:

I looked into the registry log (extended registry log is enabled), but I can’t find any error. The clock is synchronized correctly with the NTP server.

The only test I did was to turn off the NAS and unplug it from the AC, block its internet access from the router and restart it the next day. I noticed that it manteined the clock from the previous days, but it didn’t advance. Giving reaccess to internet made the NAS synchronize the clock correctly.

So, is there any way to “debug” this problem like with a SSH command or similar in order to understand what is the error cause?

Obviously I have the latest firmware installed (5.23.114).

Thank you for any help.

For my luck i still have the original battery. Tomorrow i’ll try with a tester to see the charge level and i’ll let you know!

Nothing changed. I swapped the new battery with the original one, same error.

I tested both batteries charge level with a tester, the original has 3,24v and the new 3,28v, so they are brand new. Voltage in the cmos slot is correct and equal to the battery.

I need a way to understand the reason why it’s giving me this error, it’s impossible to fix it without knowing what’s the cause
